Day 1 ( Friday, April 23, 2021 )
Plenary Session 1
Invited Speaker : Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dirgayasa, M.Hum – Medan State University, Indonesia
Topic : “How Genre Writing Architecture is Like?”
When we hear the word "Genre" I'm sure many of us first think of the genre of music, film, and so on. for example the music genre, namely, jazz, pop, rock, and so on. and film genres, namely, Comedy, horror, romance, and so on. but that is not what I will discuss this time, but the Genre of writing.
in writing, there are many important things that must be considered. one of them is the genre in the writing itself. Genre as a product of writing means that writing is viewed and approached as a certain and typical type of writing. when we start to write, what we have to pay attention to is the genre of what we are going to write. by determining the writing genre, we can also determine the style and type of writing according to the writing genre that we choose and each of these genres is different. our goal is to know the importance of genre in writing is so that we are able to write independently and with good and correct instructions, and pay attention to grammar that is arranged neatly and well. Studying the genre of writing, what must be considered is developing control of the genre. this is not only taught for students, but also for teachers who will teach in school. sometimes they forget to apply existing genres to based writing. so this is the right time for us to take a step further to update our way of writing by adding a genre component that is in writing.

The architecture of genre based writing consists of three component such as the writing as a product, teaching and learning writing, and also assessment way/instrument. in writing and the specified genre has a relationship that is interrelated with the results in the work done for writing. Therefore, in learning writing, there are also many aspects that must be considered, namely, the vocabulary and word choices, including temporal conjunctions are the text mechanics are correctly clear, and properly used. The structural patterns follow the conventions of the English language and in line with the recount text, and the text structure / generic structure meets the nature of the recount generic structure.

Plenary Session 2
Invited Speaker : Dr. Gabriela Meier – University of Exeter, United Kingdom
Topic : “Reflection on Multilingual Socialisation in Education”
In our socialisation, people grow up in an environment in which languages are used in a certain way. The use of language from each person is different because of their various socialization. For example, when we are in a family and use a certain language, it is automatic in a formal way and adjusts the language used. But if we are in a school which has a variety of languages, it is impossible for us to use all languages to speak to everyone we meet, but to use one official language and is used by everyone so that it can be easily understood and well conveyed. It's different from the world of work where we are required to learn English as an international language because around the world, everyone uses it and applies it as a medium of communication with their colleagues.

In our introduction to multilingual languages, we must know that it is important to have multiple languages for various purposes because language itself is created as a unity and characteristic of each country. Our understanding of this diverse language should be started by those who do not know the importance of applying language. When we master multilingual languages, we are ready for all matters that are directly related to other people, for example, when we have a meeting with superiors or colleagues from other countries, of course, we do not use our native language, but use the language we use. has been used by all over the world and is commonly used for various purposes, namely English. It would be better if when we can speak English and want to add new insights into other languages, we can renew ourselves by learning languages from other countries such as Japan, German, Mandarin, and so on.
Day 2 ( Saturday, April 24, 2021 )
Plenary Session 3
Invited Speaker : Ericson O. Alieto, Ph.D in Applied Linguistics - Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga City Philippines
Topic: “When Language Learning ‘Suddenly Becomes Online’: An Analysis of ESL Learners’ Attitude and Technological Competence”
Still in a pandemic like this makes it difficult for us to do activities, especially our education which has decreased in quality due to Covid 19 which does not allow us to carry out face-to-face teaching and learning activities and requires us to do it online. in Mr research. Erickson explained that there are significant differences between face-to-face and online learning as of now, there are also many factors that affect the quality decline in online learning such as bad networking and others. This makes educators have to be prepared for online methods like this and do their best so that what is taught can be well received by students. Online learning certainly has a positive impact too, apart from the limited distance that requires us to stay at home. In online learning it has become something new for us, therefore the use of technology is increasingly needed, and special supervision is needed for educators to be able to master all the needs needed and apply it to students who do not know about this technology, as well as the use of technology as a medium. new communication where we can still carry out teaching and learning activities in each other's homes without having to meet for mutual security.

In training our ability to master existing technology, the communication science that we used before must also be better than before. considering the limited space makes us unable to express something directly, this must be considered between the teacher's response given and the student's comments. If it goes well, then we can say that communication between teachers and students is following real online learning, but if between teachers and students are not connected in responding, we must pay attention to the way of delivery and the teacher's attitude that makes students understand what is being discussed. The attitude shown was also very different compared to face-to-face learning, when online learning was carried out, many of the students did not focus on the lesson and were busy doing other things. This must be observed and supervised by the teacher firmly by directly reprimanding and actively conducting questions and answers to students so that they don't let their guard down and can focus more on lessons.

Plenary Session 4
Invited Speaker : Dr. Judith Hanks – University of Leeds, United Kingdom
Topic : “Exploring the New Normal in Educational Practice: Researching Quality of Life, Resilience, and Wellbeing”
Education during the Covid 19 pandemic was a difficult situation. To improve the quality of learning during a pandemic, many things need to be changed and improved for the smooth running of the teaching and learning activities. especially technically where it greatly affects the quality of learning, for example when face-to-face learning the teacher can directly see students directly and supervise the class if it is crowded and noisy, but when learning online, many students do not turn on the camera and make the class situation unsustainable. , this must be paid special attention to educators to be more assertive and thorough in monitoring class conditions to remain active and make the class atmosphere pleasant. the question and answer session in a presentation, make students active in following lessons and there is no such thing as falling asleep during teaching and learning activities.
Making classroom conditions fun is one way that teaching and learning activities that are held online can be carried out well. as an educator, he must be able to find a way so that the material they present in class can be well received by students, therefore Dr. Judith Hanks gave some suggestions for teachers in creating a classroom vibes that is not boring and more varied, such as giving assignments in the form of groups, this is so that they can work together to complete a task and see the abilities of each student. we can see which of them are active and which are not. By being made into groups, they can exchange opinions with one another and produce one thought that can complete the given task. is expected to produce effective learning in a pandemic era like this.
Day 3 ( Sunday, April 25, 2021 )
Plenary Session 5
Invited Speaker : Edward Jay M. Quinto, Ph.D in Applied Linguistics - Mapua University, Manila Philippines
Topic: “Language Choice in COVID-19 Information Materials: A Language Justice Perspective”
Learning various languages is very good, but in learning a language, there must be such a thing as language justice. as we know that the first language we have is our mother tongue. as described by Mr. Edward said that we should not use a foreign language beyond the mother tongue we were born with because that is how other people know us through the language we use. as an example, Mr. Edward, whose mother tongue is Tagalog from the Philippines. when he uses English or something else, he only uses it for teaching, meeting colleagues, and just chatting through social media. but her mother tongue is Tagalog, she uses it in almost all situations such as talking to family, close friends, and so on. so we need to learn a foreign language, but don't forget the mother tongue that we already had long before we learned another language.

Language justice in the era of the Covid 19 pandemic is very unsettling, where it is increasingly difficult for us to make research about something, but during a pandemic like this, the use of language is very useful to help complete writing using a variety of languages. For this reason, language justice plays a role when difficult situations and conditions like this can help lighten the work in various scientific works a little. Research on Covid 19 has also been carried out by many researchers as providers of information and updates about what is happening. Of course, use a variety of languages because this pandemic has spread throughout the world, so it must be made in general with the language of each country.

Plenary Session 6
Invited Speaker : Dr. Lamhot Naibaho, M.Hum., CIQaR., CIQnR – Christian University of Indonesia
Topic: “Increasing Teachers’ Professionalism in Pedagogical Competencies through Conducting Classroom Action Research”
Classroom Action Research ( CAR ) is research conducted by teachers (educators) in class or where he teaches focused on process improvement and praxis learning. Classroom Action Research serves as a tool for solve problems that arise in class as well as as a tool for in-service training, where teachers use skills and methods that are new and sharpen his analytical abilities. Furthermore, as a tool for creating innovative learning, as a tool to improve communication between teachers and researchers scientifically, as well as a tool that provides alternatives to problems that happens in class. Classroom action research is carried out through a cycle consisting of four stages, starting with action planning, followed by action learning and observation activities and ends with a reflection for analyze data obtained through action. Classroom action research is different from formal or scientific research, including the training required by teachers, research objectives, methods of identifying the problem to be researched, the establishment of basic theory, determination of research samples, design research, measurement procedures, data analysis.

All planning can run well and be easily understood by students, as a teacher must see the weaknesses of students and make them as strengths, for example, when there are students who cannot say a few words in English, the teacher will focus on providing teaching materials about vocabulary and memorization method. so is the strength of the students. as a teacher must be able to understand his students and make conclusions from each character of his students. when there are students who excel in the speaking field, the teacher's job is to hone their abilities to be even better and they are expected to be able to take part in competitions so they can see the extent of the potential of these students. Everything that becomes a student's problem, the teacher as an educator must be able to find a way out of any difficulties that his students face so that the classroom action research that is made can run well.
Thank You 😁
Hope you enjoy
